Learning to manage and live with anxiety is essential to maintaining your overall well-being. You may love your job; however, you may experience significant anxiety while doing it. Learning to manage your anxiety better can be difficult. Take time to work with a mental health professional to learn what you are feeling and what is causing those feelings. As you begin learning to better manage your anxiety at work, here are a few tips to get you started.

Acknowledge Your Feelings

Try to acknowledge all of the different emotions you are experiencing throughout your workday. What are you doing when you are experiencing each emotion? Taking time to recognize your feelings in the moment can help you begin to better understand what is causing your anxious feelings.

Talk With Your Supervisor

Talk with your supervisor about what you are feeling. There is a good chance there may be changes that can be made to help you feel better. Your supervisor most likely wants you to be successful and can probably help you work through your struggles.

Use Your Resources

Look into additional training, education, or support that may be available for you. Sometimes making even small changes to your situation can help you work through big emotions.

Establish the Source

Work to find and understand the root of your anxiety while at work. What causes you extreme anxiety at home might be different than what triggers it at work. When you can understand the source of your anxiety, you can work with your mental health professional to better manage that source of anxiety.

Connect With Your Support Network

Having a strong support system in place outside of work can help you work through your anxiety. Talk with them about what you are feeling and experiencing. They might be able to help you find solutions you had not thought about before. For many, simply talking through their struggles can be therapeutic.
