Janet was born in Gainesville, Florida and raised in historic Micanopy. She has a passion for the history and beauty that Florida offers. Janet was a pastor in Virginia and Florida for almost 25 years and decided to get her counseling degree in order to support individuals in their search for hope and sobriety. Janet received her Master’s of Divinity and Master’s in Pastoral Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore Kentucky, and Orlando, Florida. Janet loves to share her experience, strength, and hope with those struggling with addiction and mental health. Janet started working in the industry in 2018 and started as a Behavioral Health Tech, eventually becoming a supervisor for a team of Behavioral Health Techs. She started at The Guest House in 2021. Janet started as a Behavioral Health Tech, or what we lovingly call “OG.” She did her internship at The Guest House and eventually moved into her role as Clinical Assistant, helping therapists behind the scenes. Janet has numerous jobs that she performs but believes her greatest job is meeting guests when they admit, hearing their stories, and providing a safe place for them to be vulnerable and honest with themselves and others.
Janet has been married to her husband for 44 years. She has two grown children and four grandchildren. She has two rescue dogs that are her constant companions when she is not working. Janet loves to work in her yard, growing beautiful plants and flowers, especially camellias and daylilies. Her favorite place to be is on her kayak with her husband, paddling down Silver River Run.
