If you’re struggling with thoughts of suicide, PLEASE call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
When you want to give up, please don’t. Please remember that this struggle is temporary. It doesn’t make up the entirety of your life story. It does not have to define you. It does not need to restrict, limit and confine you. You are strong enough to transcend it. You are strong enough to make the changes in your life you want to make, and you are strong and capable enough to transform yourself. You can heal yourself and every single problem you’re up against. Nothing in this life is permanent, including this painful struggle you’re in right now. It’s just a moment in time, one part of your vast experience.
Remember the people who care about you. True, they might be angry with you right now, frustrated and disappointed. You might have hurt them very badly. Some of them might end up leaving your life for good, and the loss will no doubt be painful. But you will recover, and there will always be someone who cares about you, even if it’s someone you haven’t met yet. You might be on the verge of meeting your new best friend or soulmate or the love of your life. Don’t give up when it’s still very much possible for you to form connections with people who make you happy, who support you, people with whom you can share your goals and dreams and work together to manifest them.
One of the beautiful mysteries of life is that we never know when the next best person or thing is going to walk into our lives, when the next miracle is going to happen, when we’re going to be blessed by something bigger and more magical than we ever thought possible. It could be today. Don’t give up when your miracle could literally be around the corner. Your next recovery group meeting could change your life. You could stumble upon a huge, life-altering epiphany in your next therapy session that sets you on a totally new and exciting course, bringing you more happiness and fulfillment than you ever imagined you could feel. You might help someone tomorrow by sharing your story, inspiring them not to give up when they feel disheartened and weak, motivating them to keep going. You could become someone’s lifeline and their light when they’re feeling consumed by darkness.
Don’t give up, the world needs you here.
