Therapeutic Modalities Overview
Since we operate on the principle that each of our clients will benefit most from a highly personalized treatment plan, we have carefully curated our program to include a range of therapeutic modalities. Our purpose in creating diverse opportunities for treatment options is that each guest can discover which is most effective for them within the program parameters, blending tried-and-true counseling options with cutting-edge programs for a well-rounded therapy plan.
Talk Therapies
Talk therapies are a cornerstone of psychological treatment and have been proven effective at addressing a variety of mental and behavioral health challenges. At The Guest House, talk therapies such as individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy provide a structured framework where clients can articulate their thoughts and feelings in a safe space. Through verbal expression, clients are able to explore past and present issues to gain new insight into their behaviors and develop effective coping strategies under the guidance of a skilled therapist.
The goals of talk therapies include the following:
- Increasing understanding of your thoughts and emotions
- Identifying roadblocks to optimal mental wellness
- Learning how to cope with stress
- Working on breaking self-defeating habits and behaviors
- Pinpointing stressors and triggers
- Processing and resolving underlying trauma
- Discussing possible lifestyle changes
- Improving personal and family relationships
The collaborative nature of talk therapies helps build trust and establish treatment goals, facilitating personal growth, motivation for change and healing in a supportive environment.
Holistic Therapies
Holistic therapies emphasize treating the whole person and not just their symptoms by integrating physical, mental and emotional wellness practices into a broader treatment regimen. At The Guest House, holistic therapies such as meditation and yoga, conscious connected breathwork and Spirit2Spirit healing offer a balanced approach that complements traditional therapies. Through holistic therapy, clients can learn more effective ways to manage stress, enhance their self-awareness and improve their mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.
The goals of holistic therapies include the following:
- Enhancing mindfulness and present-moment awareness
- Developing a deeper connection with one’s own body
- Cultivating emotional balance and stability
- Promoting relaxation and stress relief
- Encouraging healthy lifestyle habits
These therapies are delivered in a supportive environment and designed to nurture all aspects of a client’s health, helping them to achieve a balanced state that supports their recovery.
Creative Therapies
Creative therapies use art, music, and drama to help individuals express themselves and process complex emotions in a therapeutic setting. At The Guest House, approaches like art therapy, cinema therapy and psychodrama enable clients to explore and resolve issues through creative expression. These modalities are particularly effective for accessing painful memories and emotions, providing a unique avenue for expression and healing.
The goals of creative therapies include the following:

Clinical Therapies
Clinical therapies at The Guest House are grounded in evidence-based practices that address specific psychological and neurological needs. Techniques like neurofeedback, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and somatic therapy are used to target the underlying causes of mental health disorders, offering precise and effective treatment.
The goals of clinical therapies include the following:
- Alleviating the symptoms of mental health concerns
- Modifying unhealthy behavioral patterns
- Restoring neurological function and balance
- Processing and integrating traumatic memories
- Enhancing mental clarity and focus
- Reducing physical symptoms associated with psychological stress
- Tailoring interventions to individual needs based on clinical assessment
Clinical therapies provide scientifically supported treatments that are essential for comprehensive care and long-term recovery.
Trauma Treatment Center
The Guest House is a premier trauma treatment center. Instead of asking, “What’s wrong with you?” we shift the focus to, “What happened to you?” We assume that individuals with mental and behavioral health challenges are more likely than not to have a history of trauma, and seek to recognize, understand and respond to the impact of that trauma. We help resolve underlying trauma and avoid re-traumatizing clients, which can happen in other treatment settings.
The primary goals of trauma treatment include the following:
- Establishing a safe and predictable treatment environment
- Recognizing the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients
- Integrating knowledge about trauma into treatment practices
- Avoiding re-traumatization
- Building trust and security in therapeutic relationships
- Empowering clients by supporting autonomy and choice
- Tailoring treatment approaches to the individual’s trauma history
The Guest House ensures that clients are treated with dignity in a safe and supportive environment so they can begin to heal and thrive in their recovery.
