Tara Philcox is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a comprehensive background in psychiatry and addiction treatment. She completed her nursing degree at Miami-Dade College and earned her Master’s degree from Jacksonville University. Tara holds board certifications in psychiatry and addiction and is a certified trauma professional. Her approach as a PMHNP is to integrate both functional and Western medicine, aiming to achieve a balanced psychiatric health for her clients.
Since becoming a registered nurse, Tara has been dedicated to the treatment of individuals affected by trauma, PTSD, and Substance Use Disorder. She is committed to helping her clients achieve their highest level of functioning through a balanced approach of medication management and psychotherapy, emphasizing internal wellness over heavy medication dependence. Tara’s compassion and caring nature are evident in her client interactions, and she is passionate about ensuring each client is treated with respect, dignity, and empathy. She leverages the client’s environment as a resource in their recovery journey.
In alignment with the importance of self-care in the mental health field, Tara encourages her clients to practice mindfulness techniques as a part of their healing process.
