Michael Gilpin has over a decade of experience in the mental health and substance use disorder field. Michael has served in a variety of roles including working in wilderness therapy, collegiate recovery, coaching and mentoring, outreach and admissions, and supporting families through the treatment process. These diverse experiences have deeply informed his empathetic and effective approach to connecting with individuals and guiding them on their path to healing. Additionally, he is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work.
Michael’s two main goals for anyone he comes in contact with are: helping them have a playful and acrobatic approach to life and to become complex problem solvers. These goals became evidently clear through his personal journey through recovery, and more specifically, his journey with trauma work.
Michael lives a passion filled life. When he is not working with families, you can find him living in Asheville, NC or traveling. He enjoys hikes with his partner, daughter and two dogs, Mason and Norman. He is also a competitive soccer and tennis player, long distance runner, mountain biker, skateboarder, skier and snowboarder, and artist.
